I bought Norton Ghost 15.0 (for Windows 7 Operating System) two months ago as back up software for my Seagate External Hard Disk. This has a capacity of 465 Gb.
I have Ghost set up to carry a daily back up of my C drive, which has 202 Gb of used memory. However Ghost is not performing as I had expected it. It carried out the full initial back up of the C drive as expected, although it absorbed much more memory than anticipated (354 Gb). This has also been the problem with the subsequent incremental back ups where it has been using up much more of the External Hard Disks memory. Below is a table recording the daily memory absorption until Day 10 when I received the message that the External hard Disk’s memory was full.
Day | Used Capacity | Capacity Increase |
1 (Full back up) | 354 Gb |
|
2 (start of Incremental Back ups | 367 Gb | + 13 Gb |
3 | 382 Gb | + 15 Gb |
4 | 383 Gb | + 1 Gb |
5 | 384 Gb | + 1 Gb |
6 | 389 Gb | + 5 Gb |
7 | 394 Gb | + 5 Gb |
8 | 395 Gb | + 1 Gb |
9 | 397 Gb | + 2 Gb |
10 (Received message saying Hard disk is full) | 398 Gb | + 1 Gb |
During this period I haven’t added any substantial amounts of data to the C drive. I wondered if anyone else has experienced a similar problem and if so whether there is a solution?
