This may have appeared elsewhere but I couldnot find the exact issue I am having so here we go...
I am using Ghost to try to clone/copy an existing Windows 7 Home Premium boot/start-up 500 GB drive with 156 GB of used space, well below the target drive capacity, onto a new 250 GB SSD (Samsung SSD 840 Series). I have tried the "copy drive" in Ghost 4 times with various suggestions from the Norton forums and software manual PDF. The copy gives me this error:
-Error EC8F17B3: Cannot complete copying of (C:\) drive.
--Cannot copy source drive to destination location.
---At end of something.
---Cannot copy source drive to destination location.
----At end of something.
(UMI:V-0-3215-6067)
So I tried a backup and then restore, twice, onto the new disk and got this error:
-Cannot copy data from the recovery point to the destination.
--At end of something.
(UMI:V-0-3215-1010)
I have checked both disks and they appear to be good. I have tried both ways, copy and recover, with a formatted and not formatted target drive. I have run the live update and it tells me I am good. In the about I get Norton Ghost version 15.0.1.36526.
My frustration factor is about at its limit after 12+ hours of futzing with this. The object of purchasing the Ghost software was to not have to install Windows and all the software/games all over again.
Thanks for any help,
Mark
