I have just purchased Ghost v15 and would be grateful for advice about whether it is the right tool for my needs. Recently my hard drive (running XP Pro) failed beyond repair. Most data happily was backed up. However, to better prepare for a recurrance of this disaster I have bought Ghost. I intend use it to copy my complete hard drive (OS, programs and data) to a usb drive.
My question is this: in the event that my hard drive completely fails again and I have to buy a new one, can I transfer the Ghost copy onto the new hard drive or would I have to install the OS onto the new hard drive first? A can't find a clear answer on the Symantec web site.
