Norton Bootable Recovery Tool gives me an error

OK I tried using my Norton Bootable Recovery Tool CD this morning and I got the following message.

NPE CANNOT SCAN WINDOWS 8 FROM A PREVIOUS VERSION OF WINDOWS Error Code: 0x8001007,n5,nc0

I do not understand what this means.

I tried getting help in Norton Chat Support but all the tech wanted to do was connect to my computer to fix my problem. I tried explaining to him that connecting to my computer wasn't going to help because the error i was getting was from NPE on the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool CD during Boot Up. he either didn't understand what I was trying to tell him or he was an idot. Either way it doesn't matter now I had to end chat support because I had to get to a Doctors appointment.

Later on I tried Phone Support thinking that I might get my poin accross better talking one on one with a support tech I don't think he understood what I was talking about either he also wanted to connect to my computer and I told him the same thing the I told the other support tech in chat. So he had me run the Bootable CD and have me read the same error message that I had given him in the begining of our chat session. he puts me on hold and comes back to me 5 minutes later and tell's me the Error Code: is a Windows Error Code and he gave me the # for Microsoft I call Microsoft and tell them my story and they tell me the Error Code isn't one of theres' and they proceed to tell me that the tech A Symantec probably didn't know what the Error Code was or didn't want to have to deal with it so they had me call them.

Frankly @ this point I don't care who Error Code it is all I want to know is what it means and whether the problem can be fixed or resolved.

Hopefully Somebody can give me the answer to my question.
