I received Error 3048,3 while running Norton Internet Security. I ran Norton Power Eraser as I was told to do and was told that the following files were "unsafe and should be removed": wpwin8.exe and shellwp.dll.
These files are part of the Word Perfect 8 suite. I have not installed the entire suite, but use these files to view old WP8 files, which I have several hundred of on my computer. They have been installed on my computer since I bought it, and they have caused no problems so far - as far as I know.
I therefore need to know what "unsafe and should be removed" actually means. Are the files corrupted? Infected? Do they pose a major threat or is it just that they may, under certain very rare circumstances, cause a problem? Will Norton Internet Security run normally if I do not erase them?
I need these files, and I therefore to not want to erase them if it is not absolutely necessary.
Hope someone can give me an answer to these questions.
