Ghost Newbie question- backing up a temp attached "c" drive from another computer

This is probably very obvious to everyone familiar with Ghost.

My first attempt to get a backup of my laptop was to use the standalone symantec recovery disk generated from my installed ghost 15 copy. At some point it complained it had unusable 64 bit drivers, and my confidence in locating correct drivers was low. (Since it has been over a decade since anyone made an actual 32bit hardware computer, it is kind of dissapointing. Is Ghost a supported product or not?)

So,Plan B.  I placed the laptop C: sata drive in a usb enclosure, and attached it to my desktop. Below is the "disk management" picture. The drive of interest is the G drive.

Questions:

1) if I backup the G drive and the hidden 6gb partition on G, is that sufficient to restore a new C drive on the laptop?

My concern is whether there is a difference between backing up a C drive on the hardware it's set up to boot windows on,

and the same drive attached to another system with its own C drive.

Part of that concern is that ghost appears to think its important that I backup the C drive and the 100mb hidden partition on the C drive, along with my G drive. I am presuming Ghost is just assuming I need the system drive for a complete backup.

Which leaves me the question, why did Ghost not think i needed the 8 gb C drive hidden partition? Its a recovery partition for windows. I'm confident the C drive is not needed on a completely different pc, but less confident i am using Ghost as intended.

2) My enclosure has a hardware disk to disk copy (doesnt go thru PC).
Will that make a runnable copy of a C: drive, or do I need to go thru ghost to backup/restore, even if i just want a duplicate on a newer healthy drive? I would assume yes, but reasonable assumptions and Windows often disagree.
