Power Eraser hangs on "checking internet connectivity."

I suspected a malware infection, so after running a complete scan, I tried to run power eraser. I started P. E. and rebooted as instructed. The program ran up until it reached "checking internet connectivity." Power Eraser then stayed at this step - the program did not freeze, it just remained at "checking internet connectivity." I let it run for 20 minutes, but nothing happened. The icon/indicator kept turning.

 

- I have the 2014 version of NIS

- Yes my internet connection works fine

 

Any ideas or suggested actions for a resolution?

Ghost 15. Wrong date on File backup Last run.

I had to do a Drive backup a week or so ago.  It wasn't a Norton problem.  Since then a file backup has been done every day which shows in the Status window.  However the Last run date in the Status window for the File backup is wrong and shows it was done 8 days ago.  The date for the Drive backup shows it as being done yesterday which is cirrect.

I installed Norton Utilities (16.0.2.14, engine 5.0.0.5) on my desktop.  However, the accompanying Quick Start Quide does not open.

 

Can I download it from somewhere else?

Norton Utilities 15 registry clean up

every time i run the registry clean up on NU 15 the scanning stops once it reaches scanning custom controls.  It stops on the file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CID.Local\014rc32c-ae5b-4529-be03-0149358bc197\CustomProperties\Service

 

How do i fix this so the scan can complete.

BUG Norton Utilities 16 Disables DVD Drive

NU16 is set to run a Registry cleanup every Monday Morning.

 

After this task has been performed my DVD Rom drive is no longer available.

In device manager it states that the registry entries for the Driver are corrupted, (error 19).

 

This happens every time.

 

The only way this can be fixed is to manually go into Registry editor and delete the upper and lower filters for the device.

 

Please fix this BUG.

 

The applications that slot into the upper and lower filters are Slysoft's AnyDVD and Virtual Clone Drive (as this machine is running as a Video Jukebox).

 

I spoke to slysoft, who stated that if Norton didn't mess up the registry, then everything would work fine. The suggested I uninstall NU ;-)

 

So please fix this.

NU 16 cleaned files

Where are the files that tell me what registry keys,paths,folders that where fixed by NU16? I have noticed that this paid utility  is quite vague,  I know it will create a restore point, when I clean my reg and compact it. Other programs (free) give way more information than NU16, but i paid for this program. So I want to know what is going on with my registry.  My computer came with NIS 2013 so i stayed with the same security,  and then I purchased NU16. When do I clean these files or does NU16 take care of that also?

Subscription Incorect expire date

I had computer trouble so i re-formatted and put my computer back and i put norton back on but it says its expired which is wrong as i buy my norton yearly, it shudnt expire till november 2014 so what i can do to fix this

Norton DNS blocking akamai

Today a bunch of websites seem to be blocked by Norton DNS.  The sites are being flagged with malware pointing to akamai.  mcmaster.com is one example.  Anyone else having this issue or know if it's a legit threat?

But i can ping other 3 IPs :

 

199.85.127.10

Norton Utilities v16

I am currently using a free 30 day trial of the above. The software has helped me to get the performance indicator at "good" however I have noticed that the start up time is increasing with every start up. Yesterday it was 3+ minutes, today 7+ minutes (according to the dashboard). Should this be occuring?

I am running Windows Pro v.8.1, 64-bit. I have a subscription to Norton Hotspot Privacy, presently at version 1.0.0.16, and seeing that my year subscription is running out (only 26 days remaining), I have decided to post the following.

 

I very much like the simplicity of using Norton Hotspot Privacy (NHP), and for the most part it has worked quite well for me. However, my only major complaint and real dissatisfaction with NHP is that if it loses/drops the encrypted connection, disconnecting even momentarily (which it has done upon occasion), my connection to the Internet continues uninterruptedly albeit now I am without any protection, leaving me vulnerable and exposed.

 

Does anyone know if the above mentioned (mis)behaviour and safety concern will be corrected? Preferably sooner than nought. And due to the above, as it now stands, I am uncertain whether to renew my subscription.

 

Thanks again for an almost perfect offering (in my opinion) - that is, apart from above!

Every time I use 1 click optimization, I find that I have over 400 registry items fixed.

I have NU 16 installed. Every time I use 1 click optimization, I find that I have over 400 registry items fixed. This happens each time I use 1 click, even immediately after the prior use. What is wrong?
