I have recently started using Ghost 15 to make daily backups of work-in-progress to an external USB drive. I use File and Folder Backup on selected folders and have a separate Backup Job for each folder (usually, only about 4 or 5 in total). I am not interested in backing up all data on the drive.
When the work in a single folder is finished, it is removed from the PC and transferred to a separate long-term archive. I would then like to be able to remove the Ghost backup job and all of its associated data files - can anyone tell me the proper way of doing this? I only seem to be able to remove old backup data by going to Recover My Files, and manually searching through the thousands of files in multiple backup jobs. This is a very laborious task, and also tricky when the number of files in the backup exceeds the number of files that the dialogue is able to display.
I also have a 'Test Backup' that I created when I first bought Ghost and was learning how to use it. The original backup job has been deleted (at which point I discovered that the data wasn't removed at the same time), so I have no idea what files the backup actually contains but I'm fairly certain that it will have been unimportant stuff. The Backup History tells me that it contains 16 GB and I would like to remove these files to make space on the backup drive. How can I find out which files in the backup were put there by my 'Test Backup' job so that I can remove them?
Thanks for any help.

Ghost 15 - Shows "Target Drive - Invalid". Get Error EC950019 if I attempt recovery
For the third time in 2 years the hard drive in my Dell Inspiron R4010 fatally failed. The other times it failed I was under warranty, sent it in for repair, and restored with Ghost with no issues. This time I am out of warranty and doing things on my own and Ghost is not working.
I initialized the new drive by setting it as an active primary drive formatted with the NTFS filesystem. I installed it into the broken laptop, booted into Ghost, and when I select my Ghost image I see that the target drive appears as "Target Drive Invalid". If I push through anyway and attempt to Ghost I am given "Error EC950019: The current recovery data is invalid".
I found a thread here for Ghost 12 http://community.norton.com/t5/Other-Norton-Products/Ghost-12-shows-invalid-drive-and-target-drive-when-trying-to/m-p/152687/highlight/true#M13747 but I do not have a system restore disc, and if the hard drive is the issue the system restore disc certainly wouldn't have the driver because this is a different hard drive (the old was a 500GB Toshiba and this is a 750GB Western Digital). Earlier I tried to get a system restore disc from Dell, but once you are out of warranty Dell wants nothing to do with you.
If Ghost is just not going to allow me to recover my contents, is it at least possible to view the contents within a Ghost image so that I can manually copy the files out? Worst case scenerio I would just get a new laptop and it would be good enough just to manually pull the files out and into my new computer.
NG15 Could not determin the adapter connection status
Hi all. My first post here.
I've been using NG since version 9 and have managed to work my way around issues using all versions since then. This time I'm stumped and looking for help.
Essentially, the SRD cannot see the network card, for which is has the drivers.
I have a new Samsung NP350V5C laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. NG15 is installed and working to back it up to my Drobo NAS. I have run a driver verification and the only drivers missing are the usual suspects: WAN Miniport (IKEv2) and Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter, neither of which are needed.
The NIC is a Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.
Booting with the SRD, network services starts without issue. Set Network Card Speed shows a Realtek RTL8168/8111 Family PCI-e Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0). Clicking OK or Apply with Auto Negotiation or any specific speed selected gives the message "Could not determine the adapter connection status".
Configure Network Connection Settings gives the message: "Process 'Could not get network adapters' reported an error executing the requested operation."
Explore My Computer shows the 3 HD partitions, Boot (X:) and 2 x NGH15.0.1 drives (not sure why 2).
I'm not really sure what's going on but is feels like the NIC isn't being turned on by the hardware until Windows 7 boots. The USB is behaving the same way. I have a stick that lights up when plugged in and although it lights during the POST it goes out once SRD loads.
Any ideas on what to try as without network or USB, recovery if I ever need it doesn't seem like an option?
Identity Safe free ver. cannot Import saved files from deleted Norton Internet Security program
I would like to find out why my old Norton Internet Security's Identity Safe files "safenorton.NPM" (that I had the Norton program save when I deleted it) will not Import to the free Norton Identity Safe vault.

PC -> VirtualBox
Hi guys,
I decided to switch my main machine to Linux, so I backed it up with Norton Ghost, it was a Windows 7.
Installed Linux, VirtualBox, installed another copy of Windows in VBox, installed Norton Ghost, ran the back up, went smoothly.
Had problems with boot, fixed it, I can choose what Windows I want to boot inside VBox but I get a BSOD with error "0x0000007b", and I can't seem to fix it.
People online talk about hard disk drivers, I deleted disk from system32/drivers, didn't fix it, any idea on what to do next? Can I just remove almost all driveres from W7 or something dirty like that? Or what do you recommend?
I can see all files on the drive, it's called properly seems healthy, it is most likely a driver issue.
Thanks In Advance. :)
Norton Utilities 16 - System Tray icon missing?
I have just updated from NU 14 to NU 16. When NU 14 started it would present the normal interface. I would click on the "X" in the top right, and it would minimize to a system tray icon. When I click the "X" in NU 16 there is no system tray icon.
Need I simply minimize NU 16 so that it continues to function, i.e., does clicking the "X" close it and turn off its functions?
The system tray icon was handy in NU 14. I'd like to get it back, if I can.
= = =
Perhaps I am missing something here.
Does NU "run" continuously in the background as does Norton Internet Security (also installed), or is it a set of functions that only work when invoked?
Thanks.

Norton Utilities 16 + Diskeeper 12 Professional Edition compatibility
Since I have Diskeeper to handle my defragmentation needs in a far more efficient and less resource and time consuming way, is there any way to disable the defrag part of NU 16? As far as I can tell, NU16 and Diskeeper Professional Edition do not seem to agree on what and how to defrag a hard drive and I don't need some ridiculous conflict to mess up the system as has happened in the past.
Thanks for any assistance
Norton Utilities 16 messed up win7
Ghost 15 can't get past 'reconciling volume'
The scheduled backup for last night failed to complete because of the failure noted above.
So far as I can tell the only change to the system since the successful backup on Wednesday night has been to upgrade to IE10 for W7x64.
Suggestions, recommendations?
Thanks

Norton Power Eraser Permanently Deletes too much
My son's computer was recently infected with a variant of the click.livesearchnow.com virsu (Norton Antivirus and Power search do not detect it).
I tried to use power eraser and it found one program it said was bad. (Actually makred as a shortcut to the program.). Instead of deleting just this one program it deleted almost all the files in his "skyrim" game folder (over 18,900 files, about 19 GB worth). Including many custom mods and edits. There was NO indication from Power Eraser that it was going to delete full directories of files instead of just the ONE file listed.
When realizing it deleted all of these he tried the "undo" -- it undid the deletion of the ONE file.
Then he tried system restore, an it brought back about 1/3 of the files -- but not the ones that were his custom mods and edits.
So -- Anyway to get more material recovered, or did Power Eraser just delete all of this.
Hello! Norton... Can you please remove...
Hello! Norton...
I would like to know if you can you please remove those gray circles [That follow or are placed behind my blogs when people search for my blogs in a search engine.] Because I submitted all 3 Of my blogs and my Ning for evaluation 7 months ago...[My Ning have been evaluated and have been given the "Green-light."]
However, I don't understand why you want evaluate my 3 blogs.
Because I feel that those [grey circles] are preventing traffic from coming to my blogs.
Most importantly, I want those grey circles removed traffic or no traffic...
[Note: Comcast added this product on my computer...Therefore, I have no product key.]
Thanks,
Win 7 ghost image "corrupt" after installing Win 8
I am in a situation where I need to be able to restore a "clean" state of Win 7 or Win 8 on a system. The SOP is to have a System partition with the booting OS, a small Fat partition with Ghost 11.5, and then another partition with the ghost images stored on it. Images are created and restored by using a DOS boot CD and running Ghost 11.5.
The System partition was set up with a Win 98/DOS boot CD (to prevent the 100-meg hidden partition from being created).
What I am seeing is this:
I install Win 7 and create the image. The image verifies and is usable. I then install Win 8 (using the installer to format the system partition, so that it's a clean install not an upgrade) and create the Win 8 image. This image verifies and is usable.
If I now try to restore the Win 7 image, Ghost claims that the image is corrupt (or that it is an invalid span file).
If I manually reinstall Win 7 from the install disks, Ghost will declare the Win 8 image to be corrupt.
Anyone else encountered this and found a fix or workaround?

A DNS changer virus(trojan)?
When i do a search on google or Bing instead of getting on to the website clicked i am gettng rerouted to a different website advertising a product or clinic etc.. For example, when clicking on the mayo clinic site after doing a google search, i will get on to a site advertising a pain clinic. This is happening to me 80% of the time when i do any searches and it is **bleep** frustrating. I noticed this happening about 3 weeks ago or so.I ran the norton power eraser tool which said there were no risks? How can i correct this problem?
Norton Ghost 15 Wild Card File Recovery Shows Files From Previously Deleted Backup Jobs.
I recently deleted a File and Folder Backup Job in NG15 and then deleted the Backup folder on the destination drive. I then created a new Backup Job and performed it. Now when I try to recover a file from the new backup job, the "Find Files to Recover" listing shows all of the files from the previously deleted Backup Job and Folders. If I try to delete a file from the Listing, I get the error message "Cannot Recover Files". I get the same error message if I try to recover the file. The problem is that NG15 is not updating the Listing. How can I remove these deleted files from the File Recovery Listing? Thanks
