Cannot acess Norton Bootable recovery tool

I cannot acess the norton bootable recovery tool on someone's computer. The owner of the computer has a Norton 360 installed, she said her pc might be have a hidden vius that can't be scanned by Nortan 360. So, I am trying to acess to the Norton Bootable recovery tool and cannot acess. The computer's first boot device is from cd drive. I inserted a Norton CD and restarted the computer and tried to boot from the CD but it says: "Cannot boot from CD. Error Code 5." S, the computer starts the windows.

 

Why like that?

Norton Utilities 15.0

I purchased Norton internet security and the utilities 15.0 . I have never been able to get a full scan with the utilities I get a pop-up stating that the program had to shut down and that windows would let me know when their was a fix . So this morning  I decided that maybe I just needed to update the utilities . And surprise there was Norton Utilities 16.0 .. I was feeling pretty good ,

Finally IM gunna be able to clean out my laptop . But guess what happened . I was advised that I was only seeing the trial version , and that I had to buy the utilities AGAIN!!!!!!!. NO not happening , it seems I can never get anyone to help me from your,e company , Plus I paid for a year of service , that always has a problem . So I ended up downloading a windows program that didn't work with Norton.OK seriously???? Don't you find something wrong there ??? You actually think IM gunna pay for that product again ????

Norton Utilities 15 and Windows 8 Pro

Sir/Ma'am,

 

Having issues with Norton Utilities 15 and Windows 8.  Norton Utilities 15 finds registry errors and appears to fix them, however, my system health continually shows medium.  I tried the autodetectPkg that Norton lets you download, but it doesn't work.  Is there a way to receive an upgrade/patch/fix, so Windows 8 and Norton work well/play well together.  It's useless to try to talk to the tech reps...must be a language barrier, or maybe I am not explaining myself clearly.  Not to mention the hold time trying to connect with a live person.  Any suggestions???

Norton Management

Hi everyone

 

I currently have Norton Internet Security 2012 on two computers - one which is located somewhere else in the country. I have registered with Norton Management and downloaded the management tool to both computers a couple of months ago. My subscription with NIS is about to end and I want to purchase Norton 360 and install on both computers.

 

My question is: how do I uninstall NIS from the remote computer? I presume I need to get the user of that computer to download the Norton Removal Tool, uninstall and then download Norton 360 through the Norton Management icon?? Will that have been removed from the computer by the removal tool? How can I get a non-technical person to walk through this? It seems a little pointless having the management tool if I can't do this from a distance?

 

Also, the instructions for norton management imply that I can install Norton 360 remotely. Can I do this if the remote computer is switched off? Does the user just switch on the computer and find a message telling them an update has occured?

 

I hope this makes sense and someone can help me?!

Norton Studio Issue

I uninstalled the WIN8 Norton Studio Tile on a PC that has NIS installed.

 

The tile says secure; however the App says there are no Norton Apps associated with this account. The management tab of the tile says I installed the trial version; however, the installed NIS Software says I have 228+ days remaining. I checked other settings in NIS and Remote Management is turned on. Any ideas as to why Norton Studio does not see my installed NIS software?

Utilities 14 no longer loads after Norton antivirus update.

Hi,

Norton utilities 14 disappeared from the tray, so tired to run it from NU.exe. Doesn't load!

The only change to my computer in recent times was the upgrade for Norton antivirus.

How do I get NU working again?

Ghost 15.1 Progress and performance slider

I just noticed that when I am running an image backup that the Progress and Performance window has the performance slider grayed out. Anyone else experience this? The backups run normally. Thanks.

EC8F1C50 error

I am using Norton Ghost 14.0 to backup a couple of critical folders on my Windows XP Pro server. I continually get thie following error:

 

Error EC8F1C50:Cannot create file backup for job:Some_Folder:Error E4BC0012. An interaction with the catalog's database layer failed unexpectedly:SQLITE3_exec--5: database is locked.

 

None of the fixes I have seen (e.g. turning off SQL VSS Writer, deleting the catalog.dat file) do not solve my issue.

I also did a a product update in the last week so I am current for my version.

 

Please note that I have only experienced this with a folder/file backup. My C:\ backup works fine as does any file recovery testing I do.

 

Any advice is appreciated

Windows 8 and Ghost 15

You can use these together. The images are created and restored quickly using the "cold" technique. There is no need to install Ghost 15.

 

For those who aren't familiar with creating a "cold" Ghost 15 backup image, I'll describe how to backup the Win8 partition...

Boot using the Ghost 15 CD
Backup My Computer
Next
Enter your license key
Next
Select the Win8 partition
Next
Browse to your destination folder
Next
Compression Standard (recommended)
Put a tick in Verify recovery point afyer creation
Next
Finish

You can create images of other partitions (if you desire) after the current process has completed.

Cold imaging is a manual procedure but it only takes a few minutes of your time. Are there advantages over "hot" imaging? Yes, speed. In my test computer a cold image takes only half the time to be created compared with creating a hot image.

 

It's true you can't do Copy Drive from the Ghost 15 CD, but no problem, you can do image/restore instead. I prefer cloning drives with image/restore.

Norton Save and Restore 2.0 - Import old Backup sets..?

I have recently had to use the Norton Removal Tool to remove NIS 2013 and reinstall NIS 2012.  In doing so this also removed my copy of Save and Restore 2.0.  It also removed all my settings and backups. 

 

Now I've reinstalled the software I'm wondering if it's possible to import the previous backup sets into NSR..?  It can see the data in the file and folder backup area but is ignoring the .v2i, .iv2i, and .sv2i files.

 

I can recreate the settings easily enough, so that's not a problem, but I'd like to get NSR to recognise the 557Gb of existing backup data.  Is that possible...?

Error with Norton Power Eraser

My computer started having problems a few days ago, with Windows not loading.  Startup Repair and System Restore did not solve the problem, so I tried to boot from my Norton 360 disk.  Norton Advanced Recovery Scan did not find anything, so I plugged in my ethernet cable and clicked on Norton Power Eraser Recovery Scan.  After it downloaded with seemingly no issues, I clicked Accept on the agreement, and the following error message popped up.

 

AN ERROR HAS OCCURRED

Error getting system path

Error code: 0x80045006,0

 

What does this mean, and is there any way to get past this and run the tool?

Connecting to a USB drive

I am running Norton Ghost v15 and need to restore on a Window 7 PC.

 

I have managed to boot from the recovery disk and now have the recovery wizard on screen.  Unfortunately it cannot see my Seagate USB drive where the Norton Backups are stored.  Is there something I am doing wrong?

Norton Safe Web

Hi,

I've noticed others have wondered why their site is not yet rated on Norton Safe Web. I also have submitted my site at Norton Safe Web. My site was verifed but I believe it has been weeks since I submitted the site to be rated. No green tag yet and I am not sure if there is something wrong with the submission, the site itself or it will just take longer. The site URL is gerrysteigerbookkeeping.com. Thanks.

Copying my harddrive using Ghost 15.0 causes system crash

I am trying to upgrade my laptop hard drive using 'copy my hard drive' on Ghost 15.0 (Windows 7)but it results in system crash at 51%. Closing down the laptop results in the target disk being converted to RAW, so I cannot find out with which files the problem starts.

Uninstalling the program and re-installing it, disabling McAfee or Rapport software has not made a difference.

 

Ghost does not seem to have a problem with D:, only with C: (main drive)

Problem with Norton Ghost Restore from NAS

I have backup (Norton Ghost 15) set to NAS drive - MyDitto. It works Ok - no problem at all. During weekend I have installed driver that created quite a mess, so I decided to restore my PC from a backup. Using Norton Ghost recovery disk I started recovery process but... even despite my network service started I cannot see NAS in my network. Can anybody help?
